Privacy Policy

At LB Wills & Probate (Norfolk) Ltd we provide you with legal services and legal advice and in order to do so, from time to time this will involve the use of your personal information and the data that we collect about you.  We will always do this in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).  This also applies to potential clients who might seek to instruct us or are making enquiries about the possibility of instructing us or using our services.

This Privacy Policy explains to you how we will use your personal information and data.

What Information will we collect about you?

We collect the information necessary that is required to carry out the contract or potential contract upon which you have or may wish to instruct us about.  The information that we collect is limited to those instructions.

To comply with legislation we are required to collect and hold identification information and data about you.  We will collect and hold that information electronically for the minimum period prescribed by the legislation relating to this which is currently 5 years from the date of the closure of your file.

How will we use this information about you?

We collect and hold the information about you in order to provide you with the services that you have sought from us.  We will not use this information for any other purpose without your consent.

Sometimes the information may need to be shared with third parties, for example with Financial Advisers, Accountants, Barristers, Banks or Estate Agents, but we will not do this without your consent and we will only do this in a safe manner and in compliance with the GDPR.

How do we store our data?

We hold our data on a cloud web-based encrypted system.

Marketing

As part of our services we like to keep our clients fully informed about our services and general information that we feel may be of interest to them.

At the beginning and conclusion of the case you will be given the opportunity to receive any marketing literature.

You will also have the opportunity to “opt out” at any point and not to receive any future marketing materials from us.

Access to your information and correction

This policy is in accordance with GDPR.  Under this you have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you and other rights as set out in the GDPR.  This includes the right to ask for the correction or removal of information that you believe to be inaccurate.  All such requests can be made in any way, however it is preferred that they are confirmed in writing with photography Identification so that we can confirm your identity before complying with your request.  Please either write to LB Wills & Probate, 1 Copeman Road, Little Plumstead, Norwich, Norfolk, NR13 5EP for the attention of Louise Bunn or alternatively email at louise@lbwillsandprobate.co.uk.

Storage of Files

At any time you are entitled to your file of papers that we hold in relation to the work that we have done on your behalf once you have paid your charges on your file.  This could either be your paper file, or your electronic file. 

At the conclusion of your case your paper file will be stored for 12 months.  Thereafter electronic Will and Trust files will be stored for a further 99 years, all other files will be stored for a further 5 years.

At any point you can retrieve your electronic file and we will not charge for this request.  At the conclusion of the time periods the files will be destroyed without further reference to you.  This is to ensure that we comply with the GDPR requirements.  We are unable to delete our records before this time as we have legitimate reasons for keeping our records.
